Poor little girls...

Seeing that it is the holiday season our church has been decorated with festive Christmas items. One item was a cute little Christmas tree with lots of fun little decorations. The tree was placed outside the foyer of our chapel for all to enjoy.

In our church we have a nursery. The nursery accommodates children ages 18 months to 3 years old. In our ward there are many families that fall into a category that I'll call "Outer Darkness." I'll define Outer Darkness as the age where your child starts to walk and is to young to attend nursery, thus it makes it very difficult to go to Sunday School.

Those who fall into Outer Darkness are banished to the foyer to chit chat and run after eachother's children. If you put two and two together you know a nice decorated Christmas tree and group of curious toddlers don't mix very well.

As I turned into the foyer I saw four little girls picking, proding, slapping, and pulling on the decorations and the mother's taking turns moving the girls away in the hopes they would find something else they could turn their attention to.

I was amused and chuckled at the sight until Maria (a current member of Outer Darkness) quickly brought me to reality and requested, as sweet as Maria does, "Ryan will you please move this tree inbetween those doors!"

After an interesting tree carry by myself, which would also make a great pic, the tree was placed in the outer foyer away from the curious little squirts. Below is a picture of their reaction. I don't think they were very happy. Poor little things.

That is priceless! My little angel is in "Out darkness" right now too. She waddles her way to the nursery room door and stands there and knocks on it till someone opens it and then she marches right in there like she owns the place. Lets hope that is still the attitude in another month!

Here is our petition to "Give Christmas Back to the Children"
Signed: Grandpa & Grandma Hall
Grandpa & Grandma Boehme
Santa Claus
Rudoph
Frosty the Snowman
Littlest Angel
Little Drummer Boy
Three Kings from the Orient
Grinch, reformed and his dog
The children LOVE the Christmas tree and should be entitled to touch, tear, and mangle the decorations.

I must add my appeal to that of G'ma and G'pa Hall. Moving the tree certainly did not alter their interest!!

that is so funny but the very best idea to put the tree away from little fingers.
